GeekStreet Reviews Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 with UST ALR Screen – A Clear Fix for Laser Speckle
Can a non-UST projector benefit from a UST ALR screen? According to GeekStreet, the answer is yes — especially when it comes to reducing laser speckle.
In a recent test, GeekStreet paired the Valerion VisionMaster Pro 2 — a high-brightness, short-throw laser projector — with our UST ALR (Ultra Short Throw Ambient Light Rejecting) screen. Despite not being a UST projector, the VisionMaster Pro 2 delivered surprisingly clean, sharp visuals, with a noticeable reduction in laser speckle, one of the most common issues in laser projection.
🔍 How Does It Work?
UST ALR screens are designed with a special optical structure that reflects light from a very low angle (as from UST projectors placed below the screen), while rejecting ambient light from above.
Although the VisionMaster Pro 2 isn’t ultra-short throw, placing it below the screen and angling the projection upward can effectively mimic the UST light path — allowing the screen to reflect the image properly and filter out ambient interference.
✅ The result: clearer images, deeper contrast, and less laser speckle.
⚙️ Setup Tips
✔️ Place the projector below the screen, not above
✔️ Use in rooms with ambient light for best ALR effect
❌ Avoid ceiling mounts — they break the screen's light path
✔️ Test angle alignment for optimal sharpness
GeekStreet’s verdict?
Even without a true UST projector, a properly set up system with the VisionMaster Pro 2 and a UST ALR screen can deliver highly satisfying results — especially for users sensitive to laser speckle.
